This page records material changes to our legal documents. We notify active users 30 days in advance of any change that materially reduces rights, increases obligations, or changes our use of personal data.

2026-04-30 — Pre-launch product packaging revision

Pre-launch substitution applied before the 2026-05-01 effective date — no user notification required (no users subscribed yet).

Material changes:

• Subscription tier collapse to Free + Pro (Ultimate tier removed). Pro absorbs Ultimate's previous features; the only differentiator was credit count, which is already first-class in top-up packs.
• Permanent Free account replaces the time-limited 21-day trial. Free has lifetime usage caps on practice content (5 S1, 5 S3, 3 S2 prompts) and a one-time taste of each AI feature plus 5 free credits.
• Subscription credit grant model changed from front-loaded ("100 credits per month, all granted at billing cycle") to drip ("250 credits per month, granted on the monthly anchor of the purchase date"). Pro credit allowance increased from 100 to 250/month.
• AI tutor consumes credits on all account types. Previous trial-only exemption (AI tutor free during trial) is removed.
• Payment processor change — Paddle becomes our merchant of record; Stripe is removed. Paddle is added to the subprocessor list.
• Affected documents: Terms of Service v2.0.0, Refund Policy v2.0.0, Acceptable Use Policy v1.1.0, Subprocessors list — updated 2026-05-01 (see ENG-171 entry above).

2026-05-01 — Cookie Policy Stripe → Paddle swap (ENG-163)

• Cookie Policy v1.1.0 — replaced the "Stripe (via RevenueCat checkout)" section with a generic Paddle-equivalent description matching the merchant-of-record swap. Updated §4 "In plain terms" callout and §5 Fingerprinting paragraphs to reference Paddle instead of Stripe. Cookie inventory table updated to replace __stripe_mid/__stripe_sid rows with a generic Paddle fraud-prevention row. Pre-launch substitution; no user notification required.

2026-05-01 — Subprocessor update (ENG-171)

• Subprocessors: Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd removed; Paddle.com Market Limited added as merchant of record (web payments). Pre-launch substitution; no user notification required (no users yet).
• Privacy Policy v1.0.1: removed vendor-specific Stripe references in §2.1; replaced with category-level language ("payment processor and merchant of record located in the United Kingdom and United States"). Non-material clarification; no notification required.
• Privacy Policy v1.0.2: expanded §8.2 transfer destinations to include the United Kingdom (Paddle.com Market Limited); heading updated from "Transfers to the United States and Singapore" to "Transfers outside Australia". Non-material clarification; no notification required.

2026-05-01 (at launch) — Initial publication, v1.0.0

First publication of Day One Education's legal documents on the new platform. This replaces all documents previously published at dayoneed.com under the 21 March 2025 effective date.

• Privacy Policy v1.0.0 — new structure, AI training opt-in, jurisdiction-specific rights, retention schedule, automated-decision-making disclosure
• Terms of Service v1.0.0 — revised refund terms, revised liability cap, narrowed user content licence, informal-resolution-then-courts-of-Victoria dispute process, removed mandatory arbitration and class-action waiver
• Cookie Policy v1.0.0 — GDPR/PECR-compliant active consent; honest cookie inventory; fingerprinting disclosure aligned with actual practice
• Refund Policy v1.0.0 — new separate document; 7-day money-back on new subscriptions; UK/EEA 14-day statutory cooling-off; statutory rights preservation
• Acceptable Use Policy v1.0.0 — new separate document; graduated enforcement; reporting and appeal processes; security researcher safe harbour
• Data Processing Addendum v1.0.0 — new document for institutional customers; GDPR Art 28 compliant
